Untitled #1 (Work in Progress)

January 8, 2010

135 North Main Street. Dayton, OH‎

Untitled #1 (from the Series Work in Progress) is an on going series that brings art into public domain. With a downtown that is in the process of  reinventing itself (like many American cities) Dayton lends itself to be used as a blank canvas or better yet a gallery wall in which site specific work can be hung on display.

Untitled #1 is about the divisiveness of current American politics and the perception one takes on information based on ones leanings while the illusion of choice with in the system is still maintained.

Peter Ainsworth: Opulence

September 10, 2009

I presented a model of how I envisage the Opulence piece to be presented at last nights meeting.  I think that it will be presented on an i-pod (either a touch or a nano). Either in its case or ‘naked’ attached to thr wall. The imagery will be that of the light shop, maybe with the furniture shops, or sculpural objects interposed. (I am also thinking that the christmas thing will come into play). There will be headphones coming out of the i-pod. Over the imagery will be a reading of a section of text (I am thinking about JG ballard but also about Johnsons, Volpone (a jacobean play about averice and greed (any other suggestions would be welcome))

Have a look at this clip so that you get the idea….

Inherent Existence

September 2, 2009
Un 1

87.6cm x 53.4cm

Hey ya’ll, I’m back in the good old U.S.of A and let me tell you the Freedom Fries are pooring out me ears. Since I’m across the Atlantic I got to turn form anolog to digital. I’ve been working on me project wich is coming a long (this is the one with collage and printing on newspaper) I was playing with the name/the idea of inherent existence

INHERENT: involved in the constitution or essential character of something : belonging by nature or habit : Synonyms: intrinsic, innate, inbuilt, natural, inborn     EXISTENCE: 1a obsolete: reality as opposed to appearance, 1b: reality as presented in experience, 1c: the totality of existent things, 2: a particular being 2d

which comes from Buddisum about how the way in which we veiw the world and how we make meaning out of it. I don’t know if  it works but I like the Idea even if I haven’t got my head around it completely. Just like to know what you think.

Artists studio invade the gallery space

August 19, 2009

Came across this article about taking the studio space into the Gallery space, thought it rather timely with the ‘residency’ theme to Opulence. I think we should have a discussion about where that is going at the next meeting. Here is the link to ArtReview
